GOVERNOR KEFAS PARTNERS WITH AIT

Governor Agbu Kefas has promised to sustain cordial and mutually beneficial cooperation between the state and the AIT network.

Dr Agbu Kefas stated this when the management of the Television corporation, led by its chairman, Raymond Dokpesi Junior, visited him at the TY Danjuma House, Governor’s Lodge, Abuja.

The Governor used the Occasion to condole the management of the TV station on the death of the former chairman, Raymond Dokpesi senior, who died on 29th May 2023.

It would be recalled that the Taraba State Government sent a delegation, led by the Chief of Staff Government, House Administration, Dr Jeji William Mni, to the burial ceremony held at his country home, Agenebode, Edo State.

The Governor described the AIT network as a partner in progress as the new administration strives to fulfil its obligation to the people amidst scarce resources. He said the new government places a high premium on education because it has the propensity to reduce insecurity, build confidence in youth, and propel development.

Dr Kefas further disclosed to his guests that the government is reaching out to international development partners and donor agencies to support the drive to attract investors in the agriculture and mining sectors. In the agriculture sector, the Governor said the government was particular about securing investment in modern storage facilities to reduce wastage and mechanized farming to transform Taraba state into the grain hub of the country. Dr Kefas noted with concern the huge losses associated with farm produce due to poor storage which is why he is reaching out to the Ukrainian government to assist in building storage facilities.

He said the markets and abattoirs in the state will be modernized and repositioned to provide employment and generate revenue for the government and the people, while the Wukari yam market, reputed to be the largest in Nigeria, will be given special attention to play a greater role in the economy of the state.

They expressed optimism that despite security challenges, the government is on the right track and will neutralize the pockets of criminal cells operating in the state.

 

He however, said tackling security is a collective effort which is why strategic meetings were held with the traditional rulers and stakeholders in all local government areas as a proactive measure to mitigate potential conflicts before they even start.

The chairman of African Independent Television, Raymond Dokpesi Junior appreciated Dr Kefas for the support rendered during the burial of his late father and for identifying with the family during a difficult and trying period.

He said the station was looking forward to a more fruitful working relationship with the Taraba state government, especially in publicizing the laudable policies and programmes going on in the state.
